“Hear this! Jazz has changed form” – Le Monde

“Ersahin’s effort is a breath of fresh air from the polluted blowing dates that now typify many of his generation.” – Jazztimes

“If Radiohead was playing jazz, they would sound like this” – Eric Truffaz

While he is influenced primarily by American post-boppers, Erşahin has also absorbed the essentials of reggae, hip-hop, and pop in addition to Middle Eastern folk music. The profound impact of these diverse influences is clearly evident in his musical expressions.

This is New York City’s East Village meets latenight Istanbul. It is groove jazz – over a steady beat, saxophonist/composer (and Nublu nightclub owner) IlhanErsahin joins forces with trumpeter Erik Truffaz, bassist Alp Ersonmez, drummer Turgut Alp Bekoglu and percussionist Izzet Kizil to create an imaginative series of soundscapes, some hypnotic and totally psychedelic, others closer to a traditional jazz framework. Ersahin brings together the sounds of east and west to produce something new and vital. This muisic is a perfect example of the magic that can happen when the best of cultures meet and something of elusive wonder is created. The sound they created together worked so well that they went on to perform their energetic and fresh show at a variety of prestigious clubs all over Europe. As well as established festivals such as Summerstage (NewYork), Rock N Coke (Istanbul), BanlieuesBleues (Paris), Enjoy Jazz (Mannheim) Skopje Jazz and London Jazz.
